A group of farms in the Tamsweg district, together with SalzburgMilch GmbH, will process a planned amount of 3 million liters of milk per year into products from the “Reine Lungau” line. The purity of the product refers to the origin of the feed used, which must only come from Lungau.

Under the climatic conditions prevailing there, significant extensification is to be expected. The project applied for here serves to monitor changes in material cycles, in the economy and in environmental impacts. At the same time, maximum input into the knowledge of agricultural businesses should be provided in order to compensate for declines in yield through good agricultural practices. The “Reine Lungau B” application project applies existing HBLFA concepts and has high potential for deriving guidelines for the production and sale of high-priced agricultural products in special segments.

The results of the application project will be presented at two international conferences. The first conference in 2019 will deal with the presentation of agricultural mechanisms in extensification and the environmental impacts of production. The second conference in 2021 will serve to present the practical aspects for interested parties in other regions as well as to present the sustainability assessment in the regional context. A practical handbook will be presented at the final meeting.

In the district of Tamsweg a group of farmers together with SalzburgMilch GmbH are planned to work up an intended amount of 3 million liters of milk per year for products with the label “Reine Lungau”. The purity of the product is related to the origin of the utilized feed, which has to come from the Lungau region, exclusively. Because of the climatic conditions in this region a notable extensification has to be taken into account. The proposed project supports the monitoring of changes in the circular flow of matter, in economy and in environmental effects. At the same time a maximum input of knowledge should be given to the farmers, in order to compensate income-declines by means of smart agricultural practice. The project “Reine Lungau B” implements existing concepts of the AREC Raumberg-Gumpenstein and shows high potential in terms of deduction of guidelines for production and disposal of high-priced agricultural products in a special segment.

The results of this project will be presented in two international conferences. A manual for practice will be presented at the final conference in 2021.
