The contribution of the LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein (Department of Economics and Resource Management) within the framework of LISA will be made jointly with the LFRZ. The aim is to provide the relevant data for the agricultural sector to create a structured catalog of requirements as well as to participate in user working sessions or to organize and conduct one of these meetings as a workshop at the LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein. The novelty is that the land cover is recorded at a standardized level for the first time. This offers the advantage that homogeneous data is collected across national borders. Essentially, this overall project is about the creation of current and detailed GIS basic data on land use and land cover as well as the periodic observation of changes in this regard. These data are required by departments of public administration at the state and federal level for spatial planning, forestry and agriculture as well as for water management, natural hazard management and for environmental and nature conservation.
The objective is to design and create a catalog of requirements, create process chains for production, produce two prototypes for each participating federal state and create a LISA web portal. In addition, the LISA project represents an important step towards linking national GMES activities to European projects (contribution to EU-wide land monitoring) and consolidates the leading role of Austrian providers in the area of land monitoring.
The efficient use of earth observation methods is intended to improve the monitoring of land and environmental resources. The LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein is represented in this project by the Department of Economics and Resource Management ( Guggenberger Thomas, Dr. ). The aim and task of this department is, together with the LFRZ, to create and make available the above-mentioned GIS basic data on land use and land cover for the agricultural sector.
