A written survey at the beginning of 2003 revealed that different educational and advisory products (seminars, brochures, courses) were offered in each country. However, there is still demand for further qualification offerings, especially when it comes to animal health issues in organic farming. At a workshop, the working groups used the survey results to develop a list of future educational products that should be implemented and offered. The aim was to create nationwide uniform educational products for both the conventional and organic sectors to further qualify farm managers in the area of animal health.
The following products were implemented:
1) Udder health (seminar design and brochure)
2) Parasites (brochure)
3) Stable flies (brochure)
4) Pig (seminar design and brochure.
When creating the pig product (sow and piglet health around birth, seminar and brochure), the differences between organic and conventional farming methods became clear, so that a product was created for the organic and the conventional side
The products udder health, pig and piglet health around birth, sow and piglet health around birth (organic) were recognized by the animal health service as a training event as part of the training obligation of the TGD participants.
The brochures are available from the Rural Training Institute (LFI).
The scope of the project can be seen in Table 1.
