The targeted control of the manure pH value has only been discussed more intensively in the last few years. However, no processes suitable for organic farming have yet been developed.

    Goals of the project:

    • Determine which factors have an influence on the pH value of cattle manure:

There are farms that have acidic manure and farms that have alkaline manure. The reasons for this will be determined through surveys of selected companies.

    • Developing possible strategies to stabilize pH:

Based on practical experience, possible strategies will be developed, which will be tested in precise tests in a longer-term follow-up project.

    • Calibration and calibration of the new liquid manure test facility at Moarhof using test runs:

There is a liquid manure test facility at the Moarhof organic training and experimental farm. This consists of 3 stainless steel containers with a capacity of 170 l each. Each container has a temperature, conductivity, pH and redox potential probe. As part of a preliminary test, the system is to be calibrated so that it is ready for further tests as part of a large project.
