    Innovations in biological sorrel control

    It is particularly difficult for organic farms to achieve long-term decimation of the dock population without the use of herbicides. The control measures established so far are similar in that they are either time-consuming, physically demanding or only produce unsatisfactory results.

    For this reason, the Allgäu farmer Klaus Kössler has set himself the goal of developing two new techniques that will make it possible to combat the blunt-leaved dock in a relatively convenient and quick-witted manner.

    This resulted in a hydraulically operated plant cutter that is operated by attaching it to the farm loader, as well as a manually operated plant cutter with an ejection function in three different sizes.

    Both systems were tested for their practical suitability as part of a diploma thesis at the HBLFA Raumberg Gumpenstein:
