Wörschacher Moor - Work assignment 4U

On May 13, 2025, the 4UR project group "Moors for Tomorrow," together with Ms. Sandra Kapp, Mr. Gernot Schwab, and Mr. DDr. Schaffer, carried out a work assignment in Wörschach. Also present were Mr. Florian Gritsch (ALWA, landowner) and Mr. Kurt Krimberger from the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein.

We arrived at the designated area at 3:00 PM in sunny weather. After a brief introduction by Mr. Martin Weitgasser to the mulching crawler and its functions, we carefully made our way to the test plot. Once the area had been checked for debris, the mulching began. The machine's low ground pressure was clearly visible. The remote-controlled crawler even handled trees with a diameter of up to 30 cm. The mulch remained on the surface.

The experiment shows that peatlands can be mulched in a soil-friendly way and prepared for future mowing to produce bedding material. The harvested meadow hay can be used in a variety of ways, e.g., for pelleting or as bedding. (Marvin Schwab, Stefan Fuchs, Laura Rießner)
