The soil and the vegetation growing on it are the focus of the ecological analysis. Particular attention is also paid to the anticipated shift in tree species over the coming decades. Innovative reforestation concepts with the appropriate admixture of deciduous trees, alongside traditional stand management concepts, form the main part of the annual content.
Especially in the area of stand regeneration, the course focuses on the possibilities of natural regeneration methods, which have proven to be economically viable. In the third year, the emphasis is on safe working techniques. Harvesting of large and small timber and the extraction of logs, taking into account applicable safety regulations, constitute a significant part of the curriculum. In line with this, the fundamentals of roundwood marketing are explained. Insights into forest road construction, forest management planning, and forest valuation round out the subject area.
