Sustainable learning - Environmental label awarded again to HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein

Sustainable, future-oriented and environmentally friendly practices are a fundamental principle in the schools of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT). For their outstanding commitment in this area, eight schools – including, once again, the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein – were recently awarded the Austrian Ecolabel.

“Our children must master the diverse challenges of the future. For this, they need knowledge and skills. Sustainability is a central educational component in the schools of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT). The environmental label supports and promotes this educational path and makes our commitment visible,” congratulated Agriculture Minister Elisabeth Köstinger on the awarding of the environmental label.

The Austrian Ecolabel is awarded jointly by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. To receive this award, schools must meet a comprehensive set of criteria. These include integrating environmentally related projects into lessons, as well as implementing measures in the areas of environmental management, energy conservation, health promotion, and social cohesion. The Ecolabel thus creates structures for integrating educational quality, environmental protection, and health into everyday school life. The Ecolabel is awarded for four years, after which a re-evaluation and recertification process takes place.

The environmental label for schools was first awarded in 2002 by the then Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management.
