So we went to the Steiner family's forest in Aigen, where we showed the students how to plant trees. The children were then thrilled to try planting the fir trees themselves. After the 30 saplings were planted, we explained the different ways to protect them from browsing animals. Explaining why and how to protect the seedlings from browsing, we demonstrated the following methods: protective caps, Trico, and sheep's wool. The young students particularly enjoyed applying the wool.
As a next step, the students from Raumberg demonstrated how to clear the trees using a scythe and a brush cutter to allow enough light to reach the plants. The children showed great interest in the topic of forestry and asked many questions about forestry, which we were happy to answer. After the work was done, we were treated to a drink.
