Hoof health in cattle has been a topic of widespread discussion for years. It contributes not only to their quality of life but also to their performance. Since hoof care training opportunities in Europe are very limited, the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, in cooperation with European Hoofcare, has been offering the only diploma course in Europe recognized as an instructor of functional hoof care within the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at the high school graduation level (V) since 2020. This high level of education is unique.
The diploma course covers hoof care, animal husbandry and health, communication, pedagogy, and presentation techniques in both theory and practice.
The 8-12 month course qualifies graduates to work in functional hoof care training and to conduct performance assessments in the relevant examination boards.
