Novel, mass-produced housing systems and innovative technical equipment for animal husbandry are subject to a mandatory official approval process. Furthermore, the regulation governs the implementation of assessments of mass-produced housing systems and stable equipment in accordance with Section 18 of the Animal Welfare Act for the purpose of obtaining an animal welfare label.
