Recently, however, the individual nutrients phosphorus and sulfur have also received increased attention. Phosphorus has come into focus in organic grassland , as soil analyses show a deficiency on the vast majority of areas. Sulfur is also receiving more attention in organic farming because this nutrient is essential for biological nitrogen fixation and can thus contribute to the promotion of forage legumes such as red clover and alfalfa.
