Drought, for example, has become an annual issue – but the timing is unpredictable.
Nevertheless, increasing soil fertility requires a clear strategy, many farm-specific considerations, and input that sometimes comes at the expense of short-term yields. A single measure can be part of the solution for a farm. Simply reducing or completely eliminating tillage is not wrong.
But soil fertility is influenced by soil biology, soil chemistry , and soil physics . The diversity of measures, the integration of soil fertility and economic viability—in short, a holistic view—helps us to actively address the challenges of climate change.
