Climate change - Bird protection and agriculture - 24. Podcast

How do birds react to changes and what measures can promote bird diversity?

Birds are specialists that, due to their high mobility, can react quickly and sensitively to problems in the natural and cultural landscape. Every change in a habitat always has winners and losers!

In the cold, rather damp Enns Valley in Styria, climate change sometimes brings positive changes for birdlife. However, localized observations sometimes contrast with the major problems facing bird populations across Austria and internationally, problems related to agriculture and drought in less humid areas caused by climate change.

PD Dr. Andreas Steinwidder speaks with Ing. Kurt Krimberger about his many years of personal and, above all, regional observations as an amateur ornithologist, nature observer, and nature photographer in the Enns Valley. Due to his expertise, Ing. Krimberger also participates in numerous bird monitoring projects (Quail King, meadow-nesting birds, Framework, etc.)

The discussion aims to highlight problems and opportunities for agriculture and nature conservation, and to offer suggestions for practical improvements. Listen for yourself:
