Grünland ist mit mehr als 1,3 Mio. Hektar die flächenmäßig mit Abstand wichtigste Kulturart in Österreich. Die Bewirtschaftungsmöglichkeiten im Grünland werden maßgeblich von den Standortfaktoren Boden und Klima beeinflusst. Ziel der standortangepassten Bewirtschaftung ist nicht die Erzielung von kurzfristigen Maximalerträgen durch externe Inputs, sondern die Erträge und Futterqualitäten im Sinne der Kreislaufwirtschaft langfristig auf einem stabilen Niveau abzusichern.
