Things to pay attention to when building a new cattle barn
The planning stage of a barn is crucial in determining whether climate parameters will improve. In the podcast, engineer Eduard Zentner provides valuable tips on what to consider when planning and constructing barns, especially for cattle.
When selecting a location, good ventilation should be a priority. The roof construction alone can double the hours of heat stress in summer and lead to significant losses in animal welfare and performance. In practice, large skylights are often used, which can further heat the animal area below with solar energy. The design of the side walls, as well as the location and construction of the resting areas, are also important. Of course, well-installed fans can also be helpful.
