Visit to Styriabrid in Raumberg-Gumpenstein

On November 21st, Styriabrid officials held an excursion to Raumberg-Gumpenstein. The 14 participants were first briefed by Birgit Heidinger on the renovation of the Raumberg-Gumpenstein pig research barn as part of the IBeSt project ("Innovations for Existing Pig Barns – for the Welfare of Animals and Humans"). Following this, Eduard Zentner reported on current results from two projects and on the amendment to the Styrian Spatial Planning Act.

After the lunch break, during which the participants were treated to excellent and traditional fare from the school kitchen's own pork, the group went to the pigsty. A tour of the barn allowed the officials to see for themselves the initial experiences from the IBeSt project that had been reported earlier. The goal of an intensive, professional exchange on topics related to pig farming, and above all, the mutual learning from and with one another, was fully achieved and will be continued in the same successful manner.
