Strategic future process for agriculture
On September 3, 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture hosted the event "Vision 2028+ – Taking Stock" in the Marble Hall in Vienna. The aim was to present the results achieved so far in the comprehensive strategy process Vision 2028+. Since 2023, approximately 3,000 participants have developed over 170 measures in seven areas of action – from climate and environmental protection to innovation and education. The implementation phase began in September 2024, and the first results were presented at this event.
Minister Totschnig emphasizes sustainability and cooperation
In his speech, Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig underscored the great importance of Vision 2028+ for domestic agriculture and forestry. He emphasized that sustainability, competitiveness, and food security must go hand in hand and can only be guaranteed in the long term through close cooperation between policymakers, researchers, and practitioners. Totschnig also stressed the role of agriculture as a key partner in tackling the climate crisis and announced that the measures developed within the framework of the Vision will continue to serve as guidelines for agricultural policy decisions.
HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein involved
Staff members of the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein were significantly involved in the development and implementation process of Vision 2028+. In the focus area of climate and environmental protection as well as climate change adaptation, DI Jakob Schrittwieser (BMLUK) and PD Dr. Andreas Steinwidder (HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein) presented the first successful implementation results in a video.
Balance sheet and outlook
The event made it clear that Vision 2028+ is not just a vision of the future, but already a lived reality. Concrete projects, so-called "lighthouse projects," demonstrate how innovative measures can be integrated into everyday agricultural and forestry practices. Vision 2028+ thus serves as a long-term guideline for sustainable agriculture and forestry in Austria – supported by the close collaboration of all key stakeholders in politics, research, education, consulting, processing, and practical application!
