    Visiting the University of BONN

On April 28th, representatives from the University of BONN visited the Raumberg-Gumpenstein house. Through the EnergARA project, there is intensive cooperation with the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Animal Husbandry Systems, Technology and Emissions.

For this purpose, a renewable energy source (exhaust air purification system) was adapted for cooling and heating animal stables. After the Bavarian company Schönhammer converted an exhaust air purification system in the Gumpenstein pig research barn, intensive work is now being done on this topic in order to research its effectiveness and mode of action in the Alpine region. Initial results and preliminary reports from Bonn show great potential with regard to heat recovery as well as an overall increase in energy efficiency and improvement of the CO 2 balance.

As part of the visit, there was a tour of the site and a presentation of the new liquid manure testing system by DI Zentner Andreas. The colleagues were impressed by the technical equipment and the diverse agricultural expertise of the Raumberg-Gumpenstein research center.
