Site -appropriate grazing with small ruminants in alpine regions is of high ecological, social, and economic importance. This requires well-trained herders. The training course for sheep and goat herders will enter HBLFA its second round

In 6 modules, participants will gain sound theoretical and practical knowledge about the alpine grazing and herding of small ruminants. The course will take place at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein (modules 1-4, including excursions) and in Pfunds, Tyrol (modules 5-6).

The course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners and can also be booked in individual modules.

Module 1 starts on February 20th and 21st, 2026 (program subject to change).
