Professional hoof care is more than just a "cattle pedicure": housing conditions and feeding have a significant impact on the shape and health of hooves, which must of course be taken into account in daily work. To optimally prepare future hoof trimmers for their work, the training for prospective instructors also covers a broad spectrum:
The first three-day block covered the current state of knowledge in hoof care, feeding, animal welfare and animal health, as well as the basics of communication and presentation.
Other important aspects of the diploma course include the preparation and teaching of knowledge in theory and practice. This is immediately applied and practiced during the practical units of the training.
The training of future instructors is conducted by experts, practitioners, and educators from HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, European Hoofcare, and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Robert Pesenhofer is the academic director, and the course is organized by Dr. Silke Schaumberger.
