In 2025, data was again collected from 54 project farms in the Eastern Alps-Alpine Foothills region to calculate farm-specific key performance indicators for production techniques, greenhouse gas emissions, and other emissions. We presented and discussed the results with the participating farmers at joint project meetings on April 8 and 9, 2025.
The in-person meetings not only provided an overview of the progress achieved, but also a valuable forum for professional exchange: topics such as drought, grazing, ration formulation, soil management, and legal frameworks were discussed in depth. The farmers' experiences, wishes, and concerns are directly incorporated into the project work – an important contribution to implementing climate-friendly measures in a practical, production-technical, and accepted manner.
Particularly impressive was the passion and commitment with which the organic farmers collaborated on the development and implementation of new ideas and concepts. While the project work focuses on improving efficiency and reducing emissions on the farms, it remains a key priority to communicate and acknowledge the achievements already attained in production and for environmental and climate protection to the business community and society. The reported key figures confirm the successes to date and support the future path forward.
Projects such as “Climate-efficient milk production” demonstrate how agriculture, business and science can go hand in hand in climate protection and high-quality milk production.
