In addition, there were cross-departmental activities as needed (e.g., regarding the FarmLife or TIHALO projects). During several business trips to farms within Germany, we were able to participate in the investigations being conducted there. These farm visits in the livestock sector (focusing on cattle and pigs) concerning barn climate, ventilation, emissions, and animal health are either part of projects such as IBeSt or are carried out in animal health emergencies at the request of veterinarians. We were able to be present during the measurements and were involved in the consultations and information sessions on the farms. Furthermore, some things were explained to us by the staff during our return journey. At the HBLFA campus, we also visited other research facilities. We were given a detailed presentation of the pig research barn and the ongoing projects there, as well as the manure testing facility. We would like to sincerely thank all the staff for their excellent cooperation.
