The event on the topic of " Satellite Information for Efficient Grassland Management " attracted considerable interest, with nearly 80 participants from Austria and neighboring countries. In addition to representatives from practical agriculture and agricultural training institutions, who actively assisted with sampling their fields, numerous representatives from various sectors of the Austrian agricultural landscape also made their way to Raumberg-Gumpenstein.
A key objective of this conference was to motivate decision-makers to translate the research project into a usable "product" for agriculture – a tool that both supports farm management and provides a qualified information base for institutions that want to analyze data on the ongoing development of yields and forage quality in grassland. This conference aimed to lay the groundwork for this.
comprehensive and high-quality data basis and the resulting high accuracy of estimations and broad applicability the SatGrass project also sets international standards: It forms the basis for broad cooperation in the field of remote sensing-based grassland research beyond the borders of Austria.
However, the primary goal is to provide local grassland farms with useful support in managing their land.
