In his opening remarks, research director Dr. Andreas Steinwidder emphasized the importance of farm-produced manure and the crucial exchange of knowledge between practical application and research. Following a clear and practical presentation by DI Pöllinger-Zierler, the workshop continued with a series of stations covering various topics: manure additives, long-term manure trials, and modern manure processing and application technology.
In the afternoon, the topics discussed theoretically in the morning were reinforced through a machinery demonstration . The issue of feed contamination caused by strip-shaped application was a central topic of discussion. Everyone agreed that solving this problem requires either well-diluted manure or separated manure – regardless of the application system, as numerous national and international studies have shown.
Conclusion: only with modern, unfortunately also expensive, application technology can the emission reduction targets be met and the “nitrogen efficiency” on livestock farms be improved.
