The 10th Environmental Ecology Symposium was held at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein on September 23 and 24, 2025. The overarching theme was: "Sustainable Perspectives in Plant Protection and Weed Management." Twenty presentations covered all aspects of plant protection and weed management in arable farming, fruit and wine growing, and grassland management.
New techniques such as spot spraying and RNA interference were presented. Dogs, like drones, can be used for weed and poisonous plant control.
Site deficiencies, climate change, and management errors determine the type and extent of weed infestation in permanent grassland. In some regions of Austria, weeds such as blackgrass are spreading rapidly in winter cereals.
