More than 200 viewers followed this year's LANDWIRT Cattle Symposium on February 22, 2022. They participated live from the comfort of their own homes via computer, smartphone, or tablet. The focus was on the key topics of pasture and animals, pasture and plants, and pasture and law. At 7:00 p.m. sharp, LANDWIRT editor Karin Ch. Taferner welcomed the viewers from the German-speaking Alpine region. Earlier that afternoon, the seminar room at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein castle had been transformed into a studio. Three video cameras were used under the direction of LANDWIRT video editor Christoph Duller.

In his keynote address, Andreas Steinwidder, head of the organic farming institute at HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, discussed the advantages and disadvantages of portion control, paddock grazing, and continuous grazing. He emphasized that pasture grazing can help reduce feed costs.

Safe grazing
In the third part of the online seminar, Reinhard Gastecker from the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture addressed the legal framework for pasture-based livestock farming.
