Following a welcome address by Direktor Johann Johann , Director Alexander Eder,direktor for the State of Salzburg, outlined the most important principles for transporting sport and leisure horses. Best wishes are extended to Stephan Hintenaus, who had to step in at short notice due to health reasons and hand over the presentation to his colleague. Of paramount importance is verifying the suitability of the horse-and-horse team for transport, as well as the personal competence of the driver, to ensure not only safe but also legally compliant transport.
The " Marketing in the Spotlight" with a presentation by Viktoria Hainzl (Fotowerke, Graz). For many years, this talented photographer has been documenting Austrian competition and breeding grounds, and in addition to legal fundamentals, she offered insights into techniques and valuable tips and tricks for successful photographs of horses. The Austrian Working Group for Warmblood Breeding (AWÖ), under Chairman Josef Wessely, is responsible for successful marketing opportunities characterized by high professionalism and innovative ideas. Auction coordinator Christian Rainer and the AWÖ, Kristina Waltenberger, reported on past and planned activities, highlighting the foal auction as a particular highlight. Breeding associations also represent important partners in this context: Carinthian State Horse Breeding Association, Thomas Striednerspoke about the association's responsibilities and the diverse presentation opportunities it offers breeders and potential buyers.
After a shared lunch at the house, the next session, led by Dr. Johannes Frickh (BMLUK), focused on a new series: Austria's horse regions. Alexander Plaimer, together with Angelika Anzinger the Mühlviertler Alm Riding Association and provided insights into a region that has developed into an attractive destination for horse enthusiasts in recent years. Dr. Susanne Reimoser about long-distance horseback riding, vividly describing the unique challenges and the enriching experiences of this form of equestrian tourism.
Following this, the focus shifted to riding schools in Austria , moderated by Karin Ipser (OEPS). Doris Täubel-Weinreich (NOEPS) highlighted the current structures and challenges facing riding schools and emphasized their central role in the training of riders. Dr. Susanna Kleindienst-Passweg presented the training department of the Austrian Equestrian Federation and provided an overview of training pathways, qualifications, and future developments.
The conference concluded with a session on equine health. Dr. Agnieszka Florczyk (VetMedUni Vienna) clearly explained the systematic lameness examination in horses and demonstrated the importance of early and accurate diagnosis for successful treatment. Dr. Jessika-Maximiliane Cavalleri (VetMedUni Vienna) addressed gastric ulcers and other common causes of colic, providing practical advice on prevention. This topic was rounded out by Sabine Rogowiecki from the Austrian Hail Insurance Company, who presented various insurance options for horses and discussed important aspects for horse owners.
In addition to the expert presentations, the breaks offered ample opportunity for professional exchange and visiting the exhibitors' booths, which showcased a wealth of information and innovations from the equestrian industry. At the end of the day, the two organizers, Dr. Birgit Heidinger and Irene Mösenbacher, back with great satisfaction on a thoroughly successful event. The high number of participants, the broad range of topics covered, and the positive feedback from visitors once again confirmed the importance of the Austrian Equestrian Conference as a vital platform for information, exchange, and networking within the Austrian equestrian community.
