Organic Farming Field Day 2023 - Visit to current trials and lots of information

The annual field day took place on June 20, 2023, at the Bio-Institute site in Lambach/Stadl-Paura. Interested visitors learned about the currently ongoing trials and were also informed about the results of the past season.

After a welcome address by Dr. Walter Starz, head of the Organic Grassland and Arable Farming department, the tour began at the sweet potato cultivation trials. All relevant aspects were discussed on site, and the visitors showed great interest in the new crop. Following this, there was a presentation on forage crops, which play an important role in organic arable farming.

Ms. Bärbel Eisenmann from the cooperation partner LfL Bayern was welcomed as a special guest. The visitors listened with great interest to detailed reports on the practical cultivation of edible legumes in Bavaria.

Finally, the trials with winter cereals were visited and questions from the participants were answered.
