Microbes in focus: Research project on drinking water hygiene in piglet rearing

Hygienically clean water is an important component of the healthy development of piglets . Even with high quality standards , there are still open questions about the role that natural microbial diversity plays in drinking systems .

In the collaborative project MikroWaSta, the Medical University of Graz, the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, and the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpensteinhow microorganisms develop in drinking water systems and their significance for animal health. Using modern technologies, the project aims to gain new insights for targeted hygiene measures and a sustainable reduction in antibiotic use.
