There's a buzzing sound on the Gumpenstein experimental plots

Since April 2021, three bee colonies have been established at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein experimental field and are cared for by employees of the Institute for Plant Production and Cultural Landscape.

As part of a school project, students (class 4L, school year 2020/21) built a beehive for this purpose. The colonies developed very well in their first year and readily accepted the numerous blossoms in the experimental field, which is also reflected in the honey yield. In addition to collecting honey, the bees are thus making a very valuable contribution to the pollination of various wildflower mixes and wild herb propagation.
