EIP Mountain Dairy Cattle i2connect Excursion

The detailed analysis of the EIP project "Mountain Dairy Cattle" was the focus of the three-day visit by the delegation from Germany. "i2connect" aims to learn from stakeholders in EIP projects which success factors can be identified for implementation and how innovation can be promoted on farms .

Anna Herzog (LK Austria), who, together with Andreas Steinwidder , managed the completed "EIP-Mountain Dairy Cattle" project, organized the guests' stay with Eveline Neubauer (HAUP). Following insightful excursions to the two model farms of the mountain dairy cattle project , the Kaml family farm in Wagrain and the Prodinger family farm in Mariapfarr, the group visited the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein agricultural college. In addition to presentations on "FarmLifeWelfare" and "Biodiversity " at the Moarhof farm by Elfriede Ofner-Schröck and Daniel Lehner, Andreas Schaumberger in Gumpenstein provided an informative overview of climate impact research using the ClimGrass facility and other grassland experiments .

In the afternoon, questions about the "Mountain Dairy Cattle" project were addressed. In addition to discussing the project's activities, experiences gained during the project's duration were shared with the German guests, and the operational procedures were reviewed. Besides Andreas Steinwidder, Alfred Pöllinger-Zierler, and Edina Scherzer, several external colleagues who had collaborated on the Mountain Dairy Cattle project also gathered at Gumpenstein Castle for this purpose.

by very positive feedback within the project group, as well as from colleagues in the i2connect project, and allow us to look back with satisfaction on the completed "Mountain Dairy Cattle" project. All project results, conversion solutions for dairy barns in mountainous regions, and information on alternative farm development strategies are freely available www.bergmilchvieh.at
