    Shepherds have to cope with a wide range of tasks in alpine farming and need comprehensive knowledge of how to implement them in practice. In a 4-day practical course, participants learn the basics of managed grazing for small ruminants.

     Topics:

    • Introduction to sheep and goat alpine farming in Austria
    • Management of alpine pastures and fence construction
    • Animal health on the mountain pasture
    • Working with herding dogs

     Dates:

    • Short preliminary discussion via Zoom (date will be announced after registration)
    • April 19th and April 20, 2024 (VetFarm, Triestingtal)
    • 08.05. and May 9, 2024 (sheep farm, Lower Austria)
