As a conference highly regarded by experts, it offers numerous specialist lectures and provides opportunities for exchange with national and international experts.
The Institute for Animal, Technology & Environment at HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein successfully placed a presentation this year as well. Further presentations from the Institute for Animal, Technology & Environment took place at the 9th VDI Symposium on Odors in the Environment 2021 in Wiesbaden (title: Odor Emission Surveys in Experimental Poultry Farms and in Practice) and at the 10th VDI Symposium on Odors in the Environment 2023 in Leipzig (title: Determining Odor Emissions from Poultry and Pig Farms to Derive Emission Factors for Dispersion Models).
Under the title "Effects of Different Feeding Methods in Pig Fattening on Odor Emissions," results from fattening trials with different feed configurations are presented for the first time. The central question discussed is whether dry feeding leads to lower odor emissions and whether this correlates with the level of ammonia emissions.
In addition to the presentation by HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, two further presentations from Austria are on the agenda: Christina Prietl, legal advisor and expert at the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture, will examine the legal assessment of odor emissions in Austria and the associated challenges. Dietmar Öttl from the Styrian Provincial Government will present the fundamentals of the concentration variance model implemented in GRAL for calculating odor hours.
The 11th VDI Symposium on Odors in the Environment will be chaired by Ralf Both, formerly of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Agency for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection (LANUV) in Essen. Michael Mandl from the Salzburg State Government is the local contact person for the organizing team.
