Children's animal welfare conference participants visit the Bio-Institute

The children's animal welfare conference , initiated by the state of Styria and carried out in cooperation with the association "Animal Welfare Makes School" , aims to raise children's awareness of the needs of animals and to impart knowledge about animal welfare that they can then apply and pass on directly in everyday life.

Through personal experiences and observations, children are given the opportunity to deepen their knowledge. Experiencing the needs of animals and the requirements for species-appropriate husbandry strengthens their understanding of sustainable and animal-friendly agriculture and their respect for animals as fellow creatures.

 

This year, as in previous years, a school class, the first grade of the NMS Weißenbach an der Enns, HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein as part of a field trip, accompanied by a certified animal welfare officer. Dr. Elfriede Ofner-Schröck from the Organic Institute provided the interested students with insights into agricultural animal husbandry and the needs of farm animals regarding their living environment.
