The award ceremony was subsequently held at the Institute of Biology together with the course organizers. The university course "Animal Welfare in Schools" took place for the tenth time this year. A total of 21 people participated and successfully completed the course.
This university course provides foundational knowledge about animal behavior and needs. Building on this foundation, conclusions are drawn for the responsible handling of animals and for species-appropriate husbandry. In addition to personal experience at numerous practical farms, the experiential learning approach to the topic of animal welfare plays a central role. More than 30 experts are part of the course team.
The aim of the university course is to provide participants with a sound professional and pedagogical qualification, enabling them to apply and disseminate animal welfare knowledge in their own sphere of influence within schools and educational institutions. The course is funded by the State of Styria.
