In addition, those responsible for the planning and evaluation of the experiments (LfL) and those responsible for coordination and technological development (BaySG) participated.
Following a presentation of the structure and tasks of the HBLFA , the participants gained insights into the organization of experimental planning and execution diverse knowledge transfer activities were of particular interest .
During the subsequent guided tours, participants were shown the extensive equipment for non-destructive plant assessments , which demonstrated a very high level of technical expertise. The group of visitors was particularly impressed by the unique facility for the ClimGrass project .
Since most participants are themselves active in research, the enormous effort involved in maintaining and sampling the experiment, as well as the complex care of the measuring instruments, was met with great respect. The sheer number of measurements collected daily also left a lasting impression on the participants: 50,000 individual values per day, providing a basis for assessing the impacts of climate change on grassland management!
Another highlight was the guided tour of the SatGrass . This innovative approach makes it possible to estimate grassland yields and quality on a large scale. There is ongoing collaboration between the HBLFA and the LfL in this area. Here, too, the multi-factorial and sophisticated experimental setup attracted considerable attention.
demonstration of sample handling was also very interesting . Another highlight was the walk-in lysimeter facility . The various possibilities for visualizing and illustrating the complex interactions in the soil-plant-weather were presented very clearly.
The participants listened with great interest to the speakers, who presented their respective topics with expertise and enthusiasm. A wide range of suggestions for Bavarian research and experimentation were gathered. The group also expressed their sincere thanks for the hospitality and excellent organization. The long journey was well worth it!
We, the organizing team of HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, would like to thank Dr. Ewald Sticksel and his team for their great interest, this feedback and the interesting exchange of information in the grassland sector.
