Animal welfare, yes – but not in my home

At the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, intensive research into emission reduction has been conducted for years. A new cooling system was tested in a short trial – the focus of the investigations was on whether this new system could reduce dust. The second key point was whether it was possible to reduce the temperature in the compartment during the summer months.

Conclusion: These two measures contribute significantly to minimizing harmful gases in the barn, which in turn leads to pig barns smelling less.

Our employee Irene Mösenbacher-Molterer spoke with Landwirt editor Anja Spindler about the emission impact of animal welfare-oriented pig barns.
