Topic of sustainability assessment in the classroom
The topic of sustainability and sustainability assessment has been gaining increasing importance in the curriculum of agricultural vocational and higher education institutions for years. Concepts such as environmental and resource management, which have in some cases become established as fields of study at higher education institutions, must be convincingly filled with content that is sometimes interdisciplinary, but in any case practical, in order to be implemented in the students' future careers.
The "FarmLife Education Box" - a teaching concept
Both the FarmLife farm management tool and the teaching concept we developed for it have been continuously refined over the past few years. The aim of several educational projects was to disseminate FarmLife to young people as potential farm successors and to firmly establish it in agricultural education, ultimately as a management support and analytical tool in agricultural practice.
What can the new manual do?
The manual provides a structured overview of the entire offering, consisting of the online tool and the extended learning platform at raumberg-gumpenstein.at/farmlife. It explains many different uses and offers various levels for instruction.
presents "quick recipe" a simple application example of FarmLife in the classroom. The handbook then clearly explains the diverse methodological and technical possibilities of FarmLife as a farm management tool and for assessing environmental impacts, the FarmLife learning platform (including text, image, and video materials), and the accompanying teaching concept. The materials and concept do not necessarily require the use of the FarmLife online tool in the classroom; they also offer ample resources on the topics covered independently. The handbook is supplemented by numerous application examples, screenshots, and practical tips.
