New DLG feed value tables for ruminants published

Last week, new DLG feed value tables for ruminants published. These new feed value tables also contain all the information needed to apply the new feeding recommendations for dairy cows (GfE 2023).

Detailed information on the nutritional value of feedstuffs forms the basis for meaningful feed optimization and ration calculation. With the publication of the recommendations for the energy and nutrient supply of dairy cows (GfE 2023), new requirements for analytically determined nutritional value information arise for users.

DLG feed value tables for ruminants, which have been fundamentally revised – under the leadership of the DLG working group on feed and feeding – and are now available for practical application.

The different formats are intended to provide the user with a better overview and also to facilitate data import into software solutions.

At the 2025 Livestock Conference, Dr. Detlef Kampf presented a paper entitled "Current status and further procedure for implementing the GfE recommendations for dairy cows into feeding practice ", which summarizes the adjustments and the transition to the new system.
