EU project: agrifoodTEF

Artificial intelligence will change the way we live and, consequently, the way we produce our food. Within the framework of the EU project "agrifoodTEF", the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research & Development will offer services and infrastructure for the testing, validation, and further development of AI-based applications for animal husbandry.

AgrifoodTEF stands for European Test and Experimentation Facilities for Agrifood Innovations. Its aim is to promote sustainable and efficient food production, and it includes project partners from nine EU countries. As a network of physical and digital facilities across Europe, the project offers services to evaluate and validate third-party AI and robotics solutions under real-world conditions. This is intended to create additional security for providers and users of digital technologies in the European agricultural sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be able to use these services at particularly favorable rates.

HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research & Development are building their service catalog within the framework of agrifoodTEF on their extensive expertise, particularly in the following areas:

  • Species-appropriate animal husbandry, animal health and animal welfare
  • Use of technology and electronics in agricultural management
  • Reduction of emissions and immissions from livestock farming
  • Sustainability assessment
  • Balancing of energy, material and nutrient flows

This creates excellent national conditions for innovative and practical research of the highest standard. Through networking with partners from the agrifoodTEF project, this knowledge base is deepened and broadened through the mutual exchange of information on their areas of expertise, thus complementing the institution's existing network to the benefit of all project partners.
