Agreements to maintain a respectful working environment

Bullying prevention at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management

Respectful behavior and appreciative interaction in the workplace form the basis for a positive and productive work environment and ultimately for the success of an organization. The diverse qualities and individual characteristics of employees should be accepted in all their variety. Above all, this includes respecting the dignity and personality of each individual.

The following behaviors can constitute a serious disruption of workplace harmony: bullying, discrimination based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion, belief, sexual identity, disability, as well as gender-based or sexual harassment in the workplace. They create a stressful and degrading work environment and can cause health problems.

Preventive measures are extremely important for maintaining and fostering a respectful and appreciative work environment. The present bullying prevention agreement and the establishment of bullying prevention officers can be seen as valuable contributions and active preventive measures.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management (BML) is integrating aspects of discrimination as well as gender-related and sexual harassment into the existing bullying prevention agreement in the interest of a respectful and appreciative working environment.
