Feed evaluation and trial control

The staff of this department work on various methods for evaluating feedstuffs used in ruminant nutrition. The focus is on the protein and energy assessment of individual feed components, as well as the digestibility evaluation of total rations. Another area of ​​this department involves the slaughter and butchering of laboratory animals for the accurate recording of carcass performance.

  • Daily dry matter measurements to determine feed intake
  • Feed evaluations in vivo and in vitro for protein and energy assessment
  • Assessment of protein and carbohydrate degradation according to the CNCPS system
  • Stool examinations for ration control
  • Slaughter and butchering of the animals (cattle, sheep and goats)  
  • Coordination of sample processing and experiment control
