The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, as the largest department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK), is the center for research, teaching and education in rural areas.
Effective January 1, 2005, the original Federal Institute for Alpine Agriculture Gumpenstein (BAL) was merged with the Higher Federal Teaching Institute Raumberg (HBLA) to form the Higher Federal Teaching and Research Institute Raumberg-Gumpenstein (HBLFA).
General objectives of the HBLFA:
- Identifying important developments in agriculture and forestry, the economy, politics and society; scientific analysis of corresponding issues
- Planning, initiation and implementation of research and education collaborations at the national and international level
- Scientific development of comprehensive agronomic, livestock-specific and technical fundamentals (precision experiments, on-farm research, field trials, modeling, balance trials)
- Preparation of expert reports and concepts for the long-term safeguarding of agricultural businesses, for the avoidance of land use conflicts, and for the consolidation of ecological and sustainable agriculture
- Knowledge and technology transfer through lectures, consulting, field days, instructions, regulations, fact sheets, standards, assessment systems, training courses, labeling systems, etc.
- Development of innovative products
